Talking Music: Sound Of The Sirens Discuss For All Our Sins
SOUND OF THE SIRENS have announced they are to play Cardiff’s Gwdihw Café on October 12, in support of their debut album, For All Our Sins.
The duo which consists of Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood currently have a new single. Together Alone is an uplifting, catchy acoustic-pop song with eloquently delivered lyrics that carry a powerful message. They say, “It’s a song about the power of people being connected in this life and about making the most out of the one we have.”
BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans declared himself “blown away” when he saw Sound of the Sirens for the first time, and subsequently invited them to perform on TFI Friday last year - and more recently Jeremy Vine declared them “a revelation” after seeing them live.
Recently they supported Kiefer Sutherland on his UK dates, as well as playing at Glastonbury Festival and at a number of other festivals in the UK & Europe including Big Feastival, Jimmy’s Farm and Greenbelt.

How did you get into music?
We both accidently fell into it. Obsessing as teenagers over bands and trying to recreate everything we heard!
How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is authentic, gutsy (angsty!!) and melodic. Hopefully it comes across how we feel which is passionate and emotional... yet positive and hopeful!!
What inspires your music?
Everyday life! Break-ups/make-ups, arguments, life's dramas, mental health, psychology, injustice, fears, excitement, dreams, plans and ambition.
Can you give us some background about your latest release?
For All Our Sins is a collection of songs we feel represent our sound quite well. We managed to work with a fantastic producer Mark Tucker who brought our songs to life with his magic. He managed to create a sound which is more appealing to the wider audience. It seems to be going down okay so far!
What do you like most about touring?
Service stations and deciding what we are going to eat at the next one! Oh, and crying our hearts out to all the lovely audiences. Meeting loads of new and old friends, testing new material out. Hearing people sing along. We love it all. Its ace!
What can people expect from your forthcoming shows?
They can expect loads of banter, album songs, new material & energy!
What are you enjoying listening to now?
The Killers & London Grammar
What’s been your best live gig appearance?
Probably TFI Friday – pretty hard to beat. Oh, and Beautiful Days Festival
Vinyl or digital?
Vinyl because it’s hard to lose. Our technical ability is limited!
