1970s Stars Rock Once Again As Legends Live Visits Cardiff
Some of the greatest chart stars of the 1970s music scene will be playing Cardiff this April. Legends Live features the Queen of Rock Suzi Quatro, Pop icon David Essex, Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers and rock and rollers Showaddywaddy.
Between 1973 and 1980, Suzi Quatro featured in the British charts for no less than 101 weeks, and has sold to date over 55 million records, and still counting. Her hits include the number ones “Can The Can” and “Devil Gate Drive”.
David Essex OBE has had one of the most enduring careers in music, stage & screen. He has written, recorded and produced albums and singles that have sold millions of copies worldwide - twenty-three Top 30 singles in Britain alone! He scored two chart-topping singles with “Hold Me Close” and “Gonna Make You A Star”.
The Bay City Rollers shot to superstardom with “Keep On Dancing", and would score their first chart-topper in 1975 with “Bye Bye Baby", which was followed by "Give A Little Love,”, The bands popularity has endured so much so that demand to hear the Bay City Rollers with Les McKeown is still a big draw.
One of the finest rock & roll bands of the 1970s, Showaddywaddy also proved to be one of the most successful and enduring. Following the group winning television’s “New Faces” talent show in 1974 they scored a succession of hits including their number one "Under the Moon of Love”, in 1976. They continued racking up further hits into the early '80s, even presiding over (and outliving) a whole new generation of rock & roll revival acts.
