Three Edinburgh Fringe Previews At Newport's Riverfront Theatre
This summer The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre presents a range of Edinburgh Previews . This is an exclusive opportunity to experience acts making their Newport premiere before they head up to Edinburgh for the world’s largest arts festival!
Frisky & Mannish: PopLab on Thursday 18 July, 7.30pm
Making their premiere at The Riverfront are Frisky & Mannish with their brand-new show Pop Lab. The ladies have been Edinburgh Fringe sell-outs for 5 years and have performed around the world from Adelaide to Brighton! In this new musical entertainment show Frisky & Mannish are officially Pop PhDs, fully qualified to conduct scientific analyses of the molecular intersections between every pop song ever. Have they found an effective vaccine for the contagious virus sweeping through the pop world? Who is the latest to benefit from their 80s Dance-Pop Conservation Program? Brush up on your Pop Periodic Table with the mad scientists and answer academic questions like just how can Coldplay be so popular even though everyone you ask says they hate them?
Louder is Not Always Clearer, Wednesday 24 July, 7.45pm
After a sell-out last visit, Mr & Mrs Clark Production’s Louder is Not Always Clearer returns to The Riverfront for one night only! We meet Jonny: teacher, father and football fan. He’s an artist, a campaigner, and he’s deaf. He wishes he could sing and loves to dance. Louder Is Not Always Clearer is a one-man show which is a stark and honest portrayal of a man seemingly confident, outgoing and popular, who is inwardly vulnerable and, at times, isolated. It’s Jonny’s moving, story of disconnection, difference and desperation to belong.
Flossy & Boo: Girl on Girl, Thursday 25 July, 7.45pm
The final Edinburgh Preview show comes from Flossy & Boo: Girl on Girl. The girls are frequent attendees of Big Splash festival every July, but for the first time they come to Newport for an adults-only show filled with music, comedy, and their own curious take on the world around us and the ridiculous life cards we are dealt. Flossy and Boo explore all the intricacies of what it means to be female in the modern world. From feminism to romance, to the wonder of Kate Bush, you, the audience, decide what comes next in the show – leading to hilarious and unexpected results.
