Theatr Bara Caws Award Success

Theatr Bara Caws Award Success

Bara Caws are celebrating winning an award from the National Rural Touring Forum.

The ceremony was held at Reichel Hall, Bangor University, where the Company were presented with the ‘Special Award’ for touring professional theatre to the hearts of rural communities.

Bara Caws was established over 40 years ago with the aim of taking live theatre to the hearts of the communities of Wales. A spokesperson for the Company said that receiving UK-wide recognition for the work is a credit to everyone who has contributed to its work since the very beginning and is also a great way of highlighting the wonderful work being done by the Welsh language theatre sector in general.

The Company would also like to congratulate two of Bara Caws’s loyal organisers, Gaynor Morgan Rees and Gwyneth Kesler, who have been arranging evenings for Bara Caws and other professional theatre companies in Theatr Twm o’r Nant, Denbigh, for many years. They would also like to thank the staff of the ‘Night Out Scheme’ run by Arts Council Wales, which enable societies and organisations to host arts events in their communities.

Meanwhile Bara Caws’s busy programme of work continues: their production for the Urdd Youth Theatre Company, Aberhenfelen, will be staged at the end of July, and they are also preparing for a week of performances at the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst, where they will be presenting the unique theatre experience, Gair o Gariad with Lleuwen Steffan and Rhodri Sion (their Welsh adaptation of Uninvited Guest / Fuel’s Love Letters Straight from your Heart), and Costa Byw (lit: Costa Living) with Iwan Charles and Llyr ‘Bermo’ Edwards, which toured to packed houses around North Wales recently.
