2019 Autumn Season at Abergavenny Borough Theatre
Tickets are now on sale for Autumn Season 2019 events at Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre.
This season the Borough Theatre has a great music programme commencing with Celtic award-winning band Jamie Smith’s Mabon. Early booking is recommended for two nights of the ever-popular Talon: The Best of the Eagles, one night with Steeleye Span and the popular Andy Fairweather Low. Other music events include Bach to Bacharach, Hope & Social, Buddy Holly & The Cricketers, Budapest Café Orchestra, A West End Affair, Genesis Connected, Think Floyd and comic rap legends Goldie Looking Chain. Country fans are given a taste of Nashville with Soul Street Production’s Made in Tennessee (pictured above), The Soundtrack of American Country.
The Borough’s Classical Concert Subscription offers an evening with the European Union Chamber Orchestra, Catrin Finch and a Christmas concert with New Oxford Consort.
National Theatre Wales kick start the season with Peggy’s Song, there is a Welsh and English language performance of Lovecraft (Not the Sex Shop in Cardiff), early booking is advised for Black Rat’s classy, funny, entertaining and heart-warming show Art. The hilarious comedy duo Lip Service return with a show that will appeal to crime aficionados and narrow-gauge railway enthusiasts alike, Strangers on a Train Set and live music and six actors will perform It’s A Wonderful Life in the style of a radio play.
Families and young people are well catered for this season with a deliciously imaginative show called Baba Yaga, Theatr Iolo perform I Wish I Was A Mountain; broadcaster Murray Lachlan Young stars in The Mystery of the Raddlesham Mumps and the theatre is presenting it’s very own delightful Christmas show The Night Before Christmas.
Other theatre shows include Abergavenny Food Festival events, comedian Andrew Lawrence – Clean a show that has no politics, religion, smut or swearing – just good clean fun, Comedy poet, Doug Scott CBE presents a mountaineering talk A Crawl Down the Ogre and this year Abergavenny’s Keith Davies is performing Christmas with Elvis to raise money to help toward to the building enhancements at the Borough Theatre.
As always, there’s a wealth of talent from local performers: Breakthrough Productions return with Jude Garland Rides Again - a brand new comedy by Abergavenny Chronicle Editor Liz Davies and the award-winning AAODS Juniors present the half-term family favourite The Addams Family.
There’s also a chance to celebrate the festivities with National demonstrator Mr Nigel Whyles as he creates amazing floral designs on stage for the Abergavenny Flower Arrangement Society; Abergavenny’s own award-winning brass band present Mistletoe Mania and as usual, we end the year with Welcome To Christmas – a fun Christmas concert to put you in the festive mood!
