The Palestine Youth Orchestra will deliver a diverse programme of Beethoven and Arabic improvisations this Saturday (July 30) at St David’s Hall.
Introducing the talented students for this special concert is the honoured Carlo Rizzi (pictured) – the Welsh National Opera’s Conductor Laureate and the Jane Hodge Foundation International Chair in Conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
In 2013, the Palestine Strings performed at the Proms to a sell-out audience and unanimous acclaim in the British press. Now its sister ensemble the Palestine Youth Orchestra will perform Arabic songs from Egypt and Lebanon alongside contemporary British music, Beethoven and Mussorgsky at the National Concert Hall of Wales.
Sharing the stage will be students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Guildhall School of Music & Drama led by British conductor Sian Edwards and young Palestinian vocalist Nai Barghouti.
Among the pieces performed will be Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Overture, Leonore No.3 and Rahbani Brothers’ Roudani Illa Biladi.
