A new version of the theme to the German TV drama White Horses, originally recorded by Jacky in 1968 has been recorded by singer Mari Wilson.
The track, now released as a single, appears on Wilson’s latest album, Pop Deluxe which takes inspiration from the singers memories of growing up, listening over and over to these songs on the Dansette in her bedroom whilst daydreaming of one day being on Top Of The Pops herself
“This song is almost in my DNA.” Says Wilson of White Horses, “My dad was a shift worker and when I came home from school he would be there. We would do the Evening News crossword and watch children’s TV. When White Horses came on it would send shivers down my spine, and it still does.”
Mari Wilson has been a popular performer since the early eighties. With her striking beehive hair style and fully choreographed twelve‐piece band The Wilsations her childhood dreams came true when she appeared on Top Of The Pops and performed her hits Cry Me A River and Just What I Always Wanted to sold-out concerts around the world.
- Mari Wilson will play Cardiff’s Acapela studio on November 25. Visit ticketsource.co.uk for details.
