As part of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend’s Festival of Summer, the centre will be hosting a competition in collaboration with Bridge FM to find the best busking talent, starting today (August 19).
Over the next two Friday’s, local bands and solo artists, will perform on a live stage to shoppers and everyone who votes will be entered into Friday’s weekly prize draw to be in with the chance of winning a gift from the centre. The winning busker will not only be invited to perform at the centre but also receive prize money of £500.
Acts to perform live on stage today are Porthcawl’s Rebecca Hurn and Ellis Thomas and Aberdare’s Ragsy.
While Rebecca Hurn has developed an acoustic pop style and is already selling original tracks on iTunes, Ellis Thomas is a passionate guitarist who has been inspired by bands such as Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Eats World.
Ragsy, had his first big break on The Voice UK 2013 and is now a fully-fledged solo artist touring the UK with what he describes as a ‘heart on your sleeve style with a soulful element’.
“We’re always keen to support home grown Welsh talent,” says Centre manager Richard Garratt, “Finding a space to perform is often a struggle for those starting out in the industry so we are offering a space and a small prize to go towards the performers.”
Visitors will have the chance to vote for their favourite act of that week by registering their vote on bridgefm.wales For more information about all stores at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend visit mcarthurglenbridgend.com
