Welsh singing star Rhydian Roberts will star in a new production of the 1950s Sci-Fi spoof Little Shop Of horrors when the production comes to Cardiff’s New Theatre next month.
Seymour Krelborn becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers a strange and exotic plant, which he names Audrey Two to impress Audrey, the glamorous colleague that he’s secretly in love with. Seymour discovers that Audrey Two needs more than just plant food to survive, and it grows into a foul-mouthed, bad-tempered carnivore whose voracious appetite becomes increasingly difficult to satisfy.
Rhydian, who plays sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello in the show, first rose to fame on ITV’s The X Factor, since which he has sold millions of albums worldwide, released six studio albums and performed alongside some of the music industry’s biggest names. His musical theatre credits include Grease, We Will Rock You, The War of the Worlds, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show.
Little Shop of Horrors is at the New Theatre from October 3–8. For ticket details visit www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk or call the Box Office on (029) 2087 8889.
