It’s A Wonderful Life! At Newport Riverfront

As part of The Riverfront’s festive season , next week there will be three screenings of the Christmas classic, It’s A Wonderful Life!

Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, Henry Travers and Lionel Barrymore, It’s A Wonderful Life is the 1946 Christmas fantasy drama directed by Frank Capra, based on the short story “the Greatest Gift” the film sees a man on the verge of suicide witness all the lives he has touched throughout his life on Christmas Eve.

It’s Christmas Eve 1945 and George Bailey (James Steward) is depressed and suicidal. But on that very night, George is greeted by his Guardian Angel Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers), who shows him flashbacks of his life. Each flashback shows George a time in which he has made people happy rescued those in need, including his younger brother Harry, Wide Mary and the establishment of Bailey park housing estate, in an attempt to show him how important he is to those in his life. But when George wishes he was never born, Clarence shows him an alternate timeline of events, will this help George realise how special he is?

Since the film’s release, It’s A Wonderful Life has received five Academy Awards including one for Best Picture and is regarded as one of the most acclaimed films ever made, making it the must see film this Christmas!
