CD Review: The Best Christmas By A Country Mile

Christmas albums can become disposable very quickly, we all buy them, listen to them and digest them but only a few special ones make the special cut for the “return to” pile for Christmas Future.

South Wales label, Country Mile Records new six track release, The Best Christmas By A Country Mile, is a mini album that delivers six Christmas cuts from the very best Welsh artists.

An eclectic release, among the tracks featured are John Liepin’s acoustic offering It Don’t Seem like Christmas To Me, The Grief Brothers’ rough and ready Another Beery Christmas and Punks Not Dad’s Christmas raucous punk love ditty, Gaz 4 Shaz.

Jon Langford’s Men of Gwent make a welcome appearance with the tongue in cheek, Christmas Carol, Christmas Ray (listen out for The Argus namecheck) while Skiffle legends Railroad Bill add a classic rock vibe with Santa Needs a Drink.

The album closes with Give Me Memphis’s Snowing, a feel-good Christmas song with driving guitars and a guest vocal from The Darling Bud’s Andrea Lewis.

The Best Christmas By A Country Mile comes neatly packaged in a Christmas Card style gatefold sleeve and all profits from the release go to The Red Cross refugee appeal. For further details on purchasing the release visit
