Wales Lucie Jones To Represent UK In Eurovision Song Contest

Welsh singer and actress Lucie Jones is to represent the United Kingdom in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest when it takes place in Kyiv, Ukraine in May.

Lucie, who had previously made The X Factor finals beat other competitors Danyl Johnson, Nate Simpson, Holly Brewer, Olivia Garcia and Salena Mastroianni on the television programme Eurovision: You Decide, broadcast earlier this evening on BBC Two from the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London.

The programme presented by Mel Giedroyc, saw Lucie perform the song Never Give Up On You written by Emmelie de Forest and Lawrie Martin. Lucie subsequently won the National public vote lead by show judges Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli, vocal coach CeCe Sammy, and singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Lucie is currently starring as Maureen Johnson in RENT at London’s St James Theatre, London until January 28 before embarking on a UK Theatre tour.
