Newport Riverfront will be screening Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s production of Shakespeare’s brutal tragedy Macbeth, later this month as part of the shows live broadcast across Wales direct from Caerphilly Castle.
After the King of Scotland is generously rewarded his brightest warrior, supernatural beings predict a far greater honour for Macbeth (Richard Lynch). However, when his merciless wife (Ffion Dafis) is captivated by the promise of infinite power, fuelling her husband’s fiendish ambition, he is doomed, and their devilish plans turn into a bloody massacre.
The new performance is a new Welsh translation from the late Gwyn Thomas, directed by Arwel Gruffydd and will unite three cultures which helped shape Britain in the nation it is today, as it is a Scottish tale, written by an English writer, performed in the Welsh language.
Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s, Macbeth will be showing at The Riverfront Cinema on February 14 at 7:15pm, with a running time of 2 hours 30 minutes.
