1960s music revivalists New Amen Corner are set to be Bringing on Back The 60s with two special guests Mike Pender and Mike D’Abo when their show comes to Cwmbran’s Congress Theatre in May.
Mike Pender was not only The Searchers original lead vocalist on hits such as Needles and Pins but also provided the distinctive 12-string ‘jangly’ guitar sound on hits such as Sugar and Spice, Sweets for My Sweet, Don’t Throw Your Love Away and When You Walk In The Room.
Mike d’Abo is probably best remembered for his stint as lead vocalist for Manfred Mann in the late 60s on hits such as Just Like a Woman, My Name Is Jack and The Mighty Quinn but was also an accomplished songwriter penning the hits Build Me Up Buttercup for The Foundations and Handbags & Gladrags, a massive hit for Chris Farlowe.
Bringin On Back The 60s featuring The New Amen Corner with Mike Pender and Mike D’Abo plays The Congress Theatre on May 20. Tickets are available from the box office on 01633 868239 or online at http://www.congresstheatrecwmbran.co.uk
