If you think Science is boring, then think again; Television Astronomy favourite Mark Thompson will present science as never seen before when he brings his Spectacular Science Show to Newport Riverfront this Saturday.
Designed for children of six years and up, the show explores the strange and magical properties of matter with exploding elephant’s toothpaste, vortex-generating dustbins, dancing paste, vanishing beakers and even exploding Pringle tubes!
Mark got his first view through a telescope aged ten and it was this that ignited a passion with astronomy. As an astronomy populariser he has been a contributor on The Sky At Night and to Astronomy Now – the national Astronomy magazine. His enthusiastic outreach work and contemporary image has led him to serve on the Council of the Royal Astronomical Society and to speak at many national events including the National Astronomy Meeting.
He has enthralled audiences through books and regular appearances on TV’s The One Show with fascinating journeys around the Universe. Now he has turned that infectious enthusiasm into a live show to be enjoyed by children and grown-ups alike.
- Spectacular Science takes place at The Riverfront on May 27 at 3pm. Visit tickets.newportlive.co.uk for booking details.
