Following singer/songwriter Chloe Reynolds’ debut album Broken Beautiful, reaching No1 in the UK Christian Charts last September, its now been announced that Chloe will be the main support for Anastacia when the American singer brings her UK tour to St David’s Hall on June 4.
Andy Howells recently put questions to Chloe about the forthcoming show.
Where are you from and how did you get into music?
I’m originally from Surrey but moved to live in a studio in the Cotswolds just two years ago. I’ve always loved music, but knew I wanted to pursue it when I watched Sister Act 2, aged 9. The songs in that film captured my heart like nothing else had at that point.
What inspires you with your song writing?
I’m inspired by people doing real life. Not social media perfect lives, but the people who are wrestling with the day to day struggles and coming out with the determination to get through and find the good. I’m passionate about writing songs that can really connect with people from all walks of life.
You have an album out; can you tell us about it?
The album is called Broken Beautiful and was released towards the end of last year. The single and title track got to No.1 in the UK Christian Charts and that was an exciting moment for me. Suddenly I realised that if I keep doing what I love, other people will love what I do. It’s so important to be true to yourself. I did a 27-date tour to launch the album and am really looking forward to touring again with Anastacia this summer.
If there was a go to track to introduce people to your music which one would it be and why?
I’d recommend people check out the video for my song, Broken Beautiful. The song is a reminder to everyone that no matter what we’re facing, it can be turned into something good. So many brave people joined me in the video to share their stories, and with 35,000 views it seems to be making a difference to a lot of people!
You’re shortly going to be supporting Anastacia on her live dates are you looking forward to that?
I cannot wait for this! Supporting Anastacia is a dream come true. As a teenager, I grew up listening to her Soulful pop rock and it was great to have discovered a powerful vocalist I could sing along to.
You’re playing Wales, what can people expect from your set?
Well I’ve heard that Welsh people are lovely, and like a good sing song, so you can expect the chance to join in with a song called “Still Here”. I’ll also be sharing other songs from the album, and meeting people in the interval at the merch table. Come and say hi!
What are you currently listening to on your iPod and what’s your all-time favourite track?
This made me smile. I loved the days when music was as simple as tapes, CDs, iPods…. it’s all about Spotify now isn’t it? I still think it’s important to buy music I love though. I’m a big fan of many different genres, but the song that will always have my heart is His Eye is on the Sparrow from Sister Act 2. That song has more plays than anything else on my iTunes library of thousands of songs.
