Sophie Evans To Star In West-End Version Of Wicked

Welsh singing star Sophie Evans will join the London cast of Wicked from July 24 as ‘Glinda’, alongside West End star Alice Fearn as ‘Elphaba’.

Since her appearance on television’s Over The Rainbow, and subsequent West End debut in The Wizard of Oz, Sophie, who was born and raised in Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valley,s has starred in the ITV Wales documentary Dare to Dream: The Sophie Evans Journey, appeared in The World’s End, directed by Edgar Wright; Pride, directed by Matthew Warchus, and, for BBC Wales, in Under Milk Wood.

On stage, Sophie recently played ‘Erin The Goddess’ in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games in the West End, on Broadway and on a North American Tour (including an engagement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas). She has also made countless concert and cabaret appearances.

Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagines the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
