Second Youth Summer Fest To Take Place At Tredegar House, Newport

TREDEGAR HOUSE and Country Park will play host to Urban Circle’s second Youth Summer Fest from 11am until 7pm this Saturday (July 29).

The free family arts event which is supported by Arts Council for Wales, Communities First and Newport YMCA will feature DJs, live music, dance, sport and drama.

Music performances will begin at 12 Midday presented by hosts Gabriel, TJ, Fussell and Lozy. The acts will run through until 7pm and will include Social SoundWaves, Paige Philips, Zoe Smith, Misfits, Georgia Monaghan, Tobias Robertson and headliner Jay Silva.

During the day, there will be three chances to see a drama piece called ‘In Da House’ which is a play written by drama tutor Alex Riley. ‘In Da house’ is a trip back in time taking the audience through a history of events at Tredegar House from the 15th century, all acted out by local young people. The performances inside the house have limited slots and will take place at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Visitors can sign up for a place in the tour at the UC info tent before the tours take place.

A sports area will provide workshops and games between 12 mid-day and 2pm and 3pm until 5pm. The sessions will be delivered by young people currently training as Sports Leaders at YMCA Newport in partnership with G Expressions.

There will be plenty of food options available for purchase on the day from local vendors and the Tredegar House cafe. There is also many different stalls to gather local information about community projects across Newport. Ample parking is available on site is managed by The National Trust.
