Ballet Cymru To Present New Work Shadow Aspect

Ballet Cymru are to present ‘Shadow Aspect’ a brand-new evening-length work choreographed by Tim Podesta and featuring Guest Principal Dancer of the Royal Ballet Mara Galeazzi at Newport Riverfront this autumn.

This new ballet will premiere at the Riverfront on November 3 and 4, followed by one performance only at the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler’s Wells in London on November 5. ‘

Shadow Aspect refers to the unconscious aspect of the personality that the conscious mind does not identify. In short, the shadow is the dark side where individuals are defined and bonded by their mutual feelings of isolation.

Mara Galeazzi was born in Brescia and studied at La Scala, Milan. She joined The Royal Ballet in 1992 and was promoted to First Artist in 1995, Soloist at the end of the 1997/98 Season and Principal in September 2003. She has danced every major role in the classical repertory and had many roles created for her by top choreographers around the world.  She has recently been dancing a principal role in Wayne McGregor’s ‘Woolf Works’ at the Royal Opera House.

Her collaborative work with Tim Podesta began in 2015 and their partnership has become what is now known as M&T in Motion. M&T in Motion began as a project company focussed on creating new work and has since presented new creations in London, Milan, New York, Africa, Dubai and Melbourne.
