Concept Players 60s Musical Is Something To Shout About

South Wales’ Theatre Company Concept Players, are set to return after the success of Evita and The Importance of Being Earnest to take their audiences back to the swinging 1960s.

Shout! centres around 5 women, growing up in a period of great social change, struggling to make the most of themselves as they battle to get boyfriends, manage husbands, have a career and raise a family. The women turn to Shout! Magazine’s resident agony aunt who doles out plentiful advice, although some of it is more than a bit wide of the mark to great comic effect.

This show speeds along with a soundtrack of classic 1960s songs popularised by Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw, Shirley Bassey, Cilla Black and Lulu along with eye-popping fashions and outrageous dance moves.

Among the greatest hits recalled will be To Sir with Love. Goldfinger, Wishin’ and Hopin’ Son of a Preacher Man and Shout!

Shout! opens at the Paget Rooms, Penarth from September 14 to 16 and then Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre from September 21 to 23. All performances are at 7:30pm and tickets cost £12.00.
