Children’s open auditions for this year’s Newport Riverfront pantomime Aladdin will take place at The Riverfront on Sunday October 1 between 10am – 2pm with registration at 9.30am (last registration at 11am).
Produced in collaboration with The Production Exchange, Aladdin will star Richard Elis, Dafydd Gwyn Howells, Aisha Numah, Nickcolia King N’Da and Liam Tobin. The production will run for a month from Tuesday December 5 to Sunday January 7 2018 and features two teams of children in fun routines.
Among the qualities The Riverfront is keen to see are children’s ‘personality’ as well as their singing, dancing and acting skills. 20 children are needed, boys and girls (plus reserves) to form two troupes of 8-10 who will play alternate days during the run. The minimum age is 8 on the first day of rehearsal (14 November 2017) and the maximum age is 17 yrs and 11 months on the last day of the run (5 January 2018). A list of performances and rehearsal commitments will be available on the day.
The audition will include the young people learning a short dance routine, singing as a group and individually they will be asked to recite a very short prepared poem or joke of their choice. All young people are invited to come along whether they go to a drama or dance school or club, if they study drama in school or if they are complete novices and just fancy having a go!
