One of Newport’s oldest groups The Pieces of Mind will be playing a homecoming gig at The Pen & Wig on October 27.
The band, who formed in 1963, supported The Who at Coed Eva Community College in 1966, and achieved cult status in Hamburg nightclubs such as the Star Club, Top Ten & Crazy Horse. Pieces of Mind disbanded in the late 60s with members moving on to join bands such as David, Judas Jump and The World of Oz.

Pieces of Mind (pictured in their 1960s heyday) will be performing at Newport’s Pen & Wig this October.
The band reformed in 2013 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of forming in 1963 and in 2015 were invited to take part in a BBC programme, which looked at the UK’s best part-time bands.
More recently Pieces of Mind played the Brentwood Festival in support of Midge Ure, Heaven 17 and Go West and finally got around to releasing their first album, Born at the Bosco recorded at the Manic Street Preachers studios in Cardiff.
Tickets are £3:00 (or £4:00 on door) and available from The Pen and Wig, Diverse Records and Kriminal Records, Newport.
