CD Review: Samantha Fox – Play It Again Sam – The Fox Box

Back in 1986 it seemed anything was possible when newspaper pin-up and model Samantha Fox reached the top 10 with her debut single Touch Me (I Want Your Body). Anything indeed was possible, as Sam followed up with several chart hits over the next ten years including collaborations with Stock, Aitken and Waterman including Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now, an updated cover of Dusty Springfield’s I Only Want To Be with You and a submission for the Eurovision Song Contest with her group Sox entitled, Go for The Heart.

As far as retrospective releases go, it’s difficult to top Play It Again Sam as it resonates like the 80s never went away in both content and packaging.

The box set not only brings together all of Sam’s hits and rarities on CD and DVD formats but also features a stash of Smash Hits magazine stylised packaging reflecting the art of original single releases complimented with a double-sided poster and badges.

There’s also a book detailing Sam’s adventures in the recording studio, proving three decades on from the release of her first hit the lady still has what it takes to out-fox her pop rivals on the eighties revival circuit.
