Spanish beat group Los Bravos stormed the UK charts with their Motown stylised hit Black Is Black in 1966 and their follow up single I Don’t Care, but as this new 60 track compilation proves their popularity endured beyond their two UK hit singles.
Mike Kogel’s soulful vocals were a compliment to the bands freakbeat instrumentation, so much so that much of Los Bravos output remained original, while echoing the contemporary styles popularised at the time by bands such as The Small Faces, The Easybeats and The Move.
Going Nowhere and Bring A Little Lovin’ show there was a lot more to Los Bravos than there initial British hits making an impact on both the US and Australian charts, while tracks such as I Want a Name (No Se Mi Nombre) and I’m Cutting Out (Se Acabo) demonstrate how their music caught the imagination of fans back home in Spain where the band also featured in two films.
