For the fourth year running Made by Hand will take place at the historic City Hall in Cardiff. Taking place from the 3rd to 5th November this event brings together a handpicked selection of 135 leading makers from all over Wales and the UK, selling directly to the public.
This year’s show will feature the return of ‘Pottery Showdown’, which will feature the 2017 finalists from the BBC’s hit TV show, ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’. Visitors to the event will be able to meet Clover Lee, Richard Parker and more throughout the weekend, buy their ceramics and challenge them in the Showdown.
Another highlight of the show is renown textiles artist Janet Bolton, who will be running a whole day of workshop on the Saturday (limited tickets left) as well as a talk about her Life in Textiles in the Council Chamber on Sunday 5th November at 11am.
Make it in Wales and Learn Cardiff are offering a range of workshops over the three days including Korean born and Cardiff based potter, Jin Eui Kim, who will be giving a masterclass making his monochrome pots. Other workshops include Needle felting techniques, Pottery and Home Mosaics.
As well as the workshops there will also be a range of makers demonstrating their craft. Wood work, basket making, pottery, jewellery, leather work and textile techniques will all be explained by the markers. Children are also catered for with complimentary Children’s workshops provided by Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre and Kings Monkton School.
Sarah James, along with Nina Fox organise Made in Hand as well as several other Craft Festivals around the UK. Sarah says: “Made by Hand has become synonymous with quality and the unique. Meeting the makers behind the work is one of the main reasons why so many people come to the event. I particularly love our programme of workshops and demonstrations and this really bring craft skills and making to life, which is an important part of what we do”.
With the Adult Super Saver Weekend Ticket costing £13 Made by Hand will keep you enthralled all weekend.
