Canadian Folk From The East Pointers Comes To South Wales

Canadian folk group The East Pointers perform at Abergavenny’s Borough Theatre on Monday October 16at 7.30pm.

Hailing from Canada’s Prince Edward Island, The East Pointers feature banjoist/vocalist/step-dancer Koady Chaisson, fiddle player/vocalist Tim Chaisson, and guitarist/vocalist Jake Charron.

The Chaissons are cousins and are part of the sixth generation of heralded fiddlers and folk musicians from the Island. When Jake visited the island a Canadian late-night kitchen party was sure to follow with fiddles and friends, guitars, Guinness and banjos.

As their trunk of original and traditional tunes and songs started to fill up, the trio put them to tape and took to the road.  The result is The East Pointers, who released their debut album ‘Sweet Victory’ in 2015 and have been touring the world almost constantly since.

In early 2017 they won a JUNO Award for best roots album in Canada for ‘Sweet Victory’ and have just released their sophomore album “What We Leave Behind”.

  • Tickets are priced at £14 (concessions £12) and are available from the box office 01873 850805 or the website boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk
