Sherman Bilingual Christmas Production For Children To Tour

The Sherman Theatre are to present a classic Brothers Grimm tale as part of their bilingual Christmas production which will tour Wales before taking residence at the theatre during December. The Magic Porridge Pot / Hud y Crochan Uwd has been given a modern twist by award-winning Welsh playwright Alun Saunders. A mix of enchanting music and playful rhyming songs makes this new adaptation perfect for children ages 3 – 6 and their families. This production will be performed at separate shows in either Welsh or English.

This charming new version starring Welsh actors Hanna Jarman and Mali Jones is set in a village on the edge of the Enormous Forest. Aggie is always trying to help her mother and the other villagers, but often just ends up making a mess. One day she is given a magic pot which makes tasty porridge when she taps it and says ‘Cook little pot, cook’. But when her mother can’t stop the pot, the town is filled with porridge – and Aggie’s help is really needed.

Directing the production is Elgan Rhys, Co-Artistic Director of Sherman Theatre’s bilingual Company in Residence Cwmni Pluen. Of the production Elgan says “The Magic Porridge Pot will be a fun-filled, playful and magical story bringing little ones and their families together to share a memorable experience, and will leave the children’s imagination ignited and inspired”
