Big Country To Play Penarth Show

One of the leading UK rock bands that made their name in the 1980s, Big Country are set to make a return to South Wales.

The Scottish band famed for their classic hits, Fields of Fire, In A Big Country, Chance, Wonderland, Look Away and The Teacher will play Penarth’s Paget Rooms on January 27.
The band consisting of Bruce Watson (guitars/vocals); Mark Brzezicki (drums, vocals); Jamie Watson (guitars/vocals) will be augmented on stage by singer/guitarist Simon Hough and bassist Scott Whitley.

Formed in 1981 by guitar playing founder members, the late Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson, both native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. Big Country were initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyrics.

The bands classic sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. The line-up that would ultimately record the classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in 1983.

Although there have been line-up changes the band still celebrate their musical legacy through energetic on-stage performances and recently released a box set of classic live material from the 1990s.
