Half-Term Fun With What The Ladybird Heard Live!

What the Ladybird Heard Live is the stage show based on the best-selling picture book by Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks.

Featuring two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird and a whole farmyard of fun, the book has delighted children since it was published in 2009 and is now a hit musical stage show.

It’s coming to Cardiff’s New Theatre directly from the West End to enthral youngsters from ages 3+ during its half term run from Thursday 22 – Sunday 25 February before it heads off for an international tour.

In What the Ladybird Heard Live, Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len make a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all: the Ladybird, who has a plan of her own! The woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the dainty dog take on the villains in an action packed 55-minute adventure full of original songs, live music, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs. It’s a lovely holiday treat for families with children aged three and up.

Julia Donaldson says of the show: “I love the songs, the farmer’s song at the beginning is wonderful and the lovely, lively acting set against Lydia’s [Monks] farmyard is a joy”.
