Wales’ Folk Favourites Allan Yn Y Fan To Play Blackwood

Allan Yn Y Fan will play Blackwood Miner’s Institute on Wednesday 28th March, their first concert in their “home town” venue since November 2016.

This pre-Easter treat sees the six piece multi-instrumental and vocal band return to the venue which has featured at many key points in the band’s 22 year history – including being the venue for the launch of their first two albums to Blackwood Miner’s Institute being co-producers of the bands’ 20th anniversary tour of Wales in 2016.

The focus of the concert will be material from the band’s recent album “NEWiD” which has been garnering fantastic reviews from around the world since its release. Online magazine Folkwords commented :- “. All in all, an album of strikingly beautiful music played by accomplished musicians and capable of touching your soul, making you dance with joy – or both.”

Meanwhile, Bright Young Folk stated :- “NEWiD is an album whose simplicity belies its depth and emotional complexity. It’s also a sign that Allan Yn Y Fan are going as strong as ever, bringing together the old and the new to make quite excellent music.”

Since Allan Yn Y Fan’s last appearance at Blackwood the band has added Austria to its international touring list (playing a sold out/ standing ovation concert at Krems Haus de Regionnen) and performed for last year’s Labour Party conference in Brighton.
