Tredegar House Folk Festival Returns For 2018

The 29th Tredegar House Folk Festival will take place over the weekend of 11th – 13th May in the grounds of Newport’s 17th century Tredegar House.

Visiting international dance sides this year are Ralda from East Netherlands and London-based Bulgarian Rhythms. They will be joined, for the FREE dance displays on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, by local Welsh, Appalachian, Clog, Morris, Irish and Middle Eastern groups, as well as Hevva from Cornwall and India Dance Wales. There are ceilidhs Friday and Saturday evenings.

Music  lovers are also well catered for with concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon, with a free folk club Saturday afternoon. Headline acts are Huw Williams (pictured above) (Friday), Radio 2 2018 Horizon folk award winners Imar  (Saturday), and Charlie Dore with Julian Littman (Sunday). Support acts include the fantastic Morfa, the Sam Kelly Trio, Daria Kulesh Quartet and more.

A children’s entertainer, CAMRA bar, food vans and craft stalls plus impromptu, and organised, music sessions add to the atmosphere…..all is needed now is good weather!
