Dirty Rotten Scoundrels In Abergavenny

Abergavenny Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are set to deliver high jinx and hilarity on the French Riviera as they present the wonderfully comical and musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Borough Theatre Abergavenny from May 10th – 12th.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is set against the backdrop of the French Riviera in the town of Beaumont-Sur-Mer, where casino culture is rife. Suave con-artist Lawrence Jamieson makes a living tricking rich ladies into giving him their money. When Freddy Benson arrives in town he challenges the status quo, and Lawrence’s position as chief con artist is threatened. As they decide the town isn’t big enough for the both of them, they make a bet. The first one to swindle $50,000 from their chosen “mark” wins. As the bet begins, they quickly realise they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

Sophisticated, suave and with a good dash of mischief, this hysterical comedy features a delightfully jazzy score, and has been described by critics as “a delightful throwback to the all-but-lost era of musical comedy”.
