Theatr Silures, the locally based bare bones theatre company, are continuing their 2018 tour of their ever popular production of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood. Last Summer they started their tour with a week playing to large audiences at the iconic Minack theatre perched high on the Cornish cliffs near Lands End.
Director Adrian Bevan said “it was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to share the beautiful words of our national poet Dylan Thomas and bring the culture of South Wales to a wider, international audience. T
he play was well received with reviews praising the new company for their innovative production in which five actors multi-role playing the fifty or so characters of the piece. The company, named after their pride in their Welsh heritage, relish the chance of bringing their production of the play to new audiences.

Theatr Silures take to the stage across Wales with several performances of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood.
The action of the play takes place during the course of a day in the fictitious town of Llaregub and observes the lives, loves and loss of the colourful inhabitants of the town. The play follows the humorous daily banter of the townsfolk who were drawn from the people Dylan came across when he lived in the Welsh seaside towns he loved. He conjures the intimate hopes, dreams and innermost desires of the characters with the play being at once raucously funny and at the next moment full of pathos and yearning.
Theatr Silures are continuing their tour with open air performances in Llanvihangel Court, just 5 miles north of Abergavenny on Saturday 9th June and then at Caldicot Castle on Saturday 7th July. They are then taking the play home to Dylan’s birthplace of Swansea for a week of performances in the month of August at the Clyne Farm Centre overlooking Swansea Bay and Mumbles.
