Even though South Wales is in the midst of a heat wave, thoughts were turned to Christmas in Newport this week as the cast for 2018’s Newport Riverfront pantomime assembled in the City’s Belle Vue park for a spectacular photo shoot.
Magical wishes of dry weather, fabulous costumes and a lovely cast were all granted as the countdown to Christmas and The Riverfront’s annual pantomime began! This year’s festive offering, produced by The Riverfront, is t Sleeping Beauty and it sure to become another hit with the Newport audiences as ticket sales have already exceeded last year!

The heroine Patience (Sleeping Beauty), played by the beautiful Alice Rose Fletcher, tried to avoid the Spinning Wheel and stay awake for the launch, whilst the others bonded over silly jokes and fun frolics.
Returning to The Riverfront stage are two of the most popular cast members from last year, the lovable rogue Richard Elis as Muddles the Gardener and Liam Tobin as the hilarious dame Mrs Midges the housekeeper.
Lowri-Ann Richards will be joining the cast this year as the big, bad baddie Aunt Draig and there will be the mysterious time-travelling Butler Chortwood played by Richard Nichols.

Trouble is brewing at Newport Abbey. The Evil Dowager Aunt Draig is searching for the missing Princess. Luckily Lord Griffin of Newport and his son the right honorable Dylan, with help from Mrs Midges the Housekeeper, Muddles the Gardener and Chortwood the mysterious Butler, will make sure that true love wins out in the end.
The Riverfront’s pantomime offers two hours full of song, dance, drama and fun for all the family and is produced in-house by The Riverfront and is suitable for all ages. Sleeping Beauty will run from Tuesday 4 December 2018 to Sunday 6 January 2019, with tickets ranging in price from £6.50 to £21 with group and family ticket discounts.
