Singer/songwriter Brooke Bentham continues her 2018 UK tour this week with Soccer Mommy playing Bristol’s Thekla on September 11 and Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach on September 12.
The news comes as Brooke prepares to release the follow-up to her heart -stopping Ben Baptie (Daughter, Adele, Lapsely) produced single, ‘Losing, Baby’.
Aged just twenty-two, Brooke Bentham’s music nonetheless carries the weight of someone who’s lived a hundred lives already. She was born and raised – in large, part, fending for herself with three older brothers – in South Shields before relocating to New Cross to study at Goldsmith’s. Here she at last felt part of a wider arts community, forming her live band and finding a mutual sense of camaraderie among a new generation of South London creatives.
Brooke graduated just last year and released her acclaimed debut EP ‘The Room Swayed’ – an at times-brutally honest dissection of those static, unfulfilling relationships – forming the backdrop to her final year. Lead tracks such as ‘Heavy & Ephemeral’ and ‘I Need Your Body’ instantly picked up support across Radio 1, 6Music, Radio X. Similar feats adorned her impressive follow-up EP ‘This Rapture’, a record which saw Brooke channel the epic alt-rock journeyings akin to War On Drugs or Ryan Adams with vocals that struck the emotional depths of Sharon Van Etten or Angel Olsen into her uniquely simmering sound.
Honing her live show at festivals including Green Man and Reading & Leeds to Latitude and Great Escape, not to mention a string of high-profile support shows with Sam Fender earlier this year, Brooke now looks to a bright new chapter in Autumn 2018 filled with destinations new and the imminent unveiling of some of her boldest material to date.
