Glass Ceiling Theatre present their latest production ‘Forbidden Broadway’ at Newport’s Dolman Theatre from September 21-22, 2018.
Featuring songs from favourite West End and Broadway shows, this production has the bonus of delivering well-known songs with a very comic twist including a 30-year-old orphan Annie who is lamenting the demise of her career and Les Miserables characters who just want to perform in a happier musical.

What made you choose Forbidden Broadway as a production?
People often say it, but this really has been my ‘dream show’ for a very long time. I love all genres and aspects of musical theatre and to find a show that takes what I, and so many others love and makes it funny is the best thing!

What is it about?
Forbidden Broadway takes well known songs and performers from our favourite shows and gives them a very comical twist. Without giving too much away, expect to see little orphan Annie (who is no longer so little), Jean Valjean struggling to hit the high notes…even Ethel Merman giving the Phantom a singing lesson!

What can people expect from the show?
This show is for those who love….and those who hate musical theatre! Even for those who aren’t all that familiar with musical theatre, will find our spin on the songs very funny. You can expect to be thoroughly entertained by the comedy and thoroughly impressed with the singing and dancing!

Are there any parts of the show that you’re looking forward to getting an audience reaction from?
I think the joy and satisfaction in what we do comes from the fact that the audience are enjoying themselves as much as we are. Our cast are so dynamic and talented that you can’t fail to laugh and cry along with them….and I’ll be listening from the orchestra pit for the giggles!

Do you have any favourite musical parodies that you enjoy?
I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but the Less Miserable section isn’t to be missed…and no, that isn’t a typo!
