Celebrate The Autumn Season With Sinfonia Cymru

On October 11, award-winning chamber orchestra Sinfonia Cymru will perform an evening of uplifting and inspiring music, directed by Caroline Pether at Newport Riverfront. The coming of the autumn season will be reflected with a programme of music that embraces both the wistful and the celebratory. Among the pieces performed will be Eric Whitacre’s October, Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Caroline Pether is the Leader of chamber orchestra Sinfonia Cymru and holds the Co-Leader position at Manchester Camerata. She’s the first violinist of the award-winning Zelkova Quartet and enjoys a regular duo partnership with Camerata’s esteemed principal cellist Hannah Roberts. Caroline studied at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music with Professor Wen Zhou Li and is now developing her own pedagogical career as a violin tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

“Playing with Sinfonia Cymru is one of the great joys of my working life,” says Caroline, “It is so fulfilling to lead a group of musicians who are all searching for the highest level of music-making whilst maintaining a positive and open-minded approach. When that’s combined with our supportive management team and brilliant programming it makes for fantastic concerts!”
