Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Radio Active first being performed live onstage, Britain’s favourite local radio station is back once more on a tour of the UK. The original cast including Angus Deayton, Helen Atkinson Wood, Michael Fenton Stevens and Philip Pope reunited in 2016 at the Edinburgh Fringe, and again in 2018, performing some of their classic and best-loved radio scripts, and will be heading to Monmouth in May.
Born out of a small sketch show created during their years in the Oxford Revue, Radio Active was originally written by Deayton and the late Geoffrey Perkins. It continued to grow at a rapid pace, being adapted for BBC Radio 4 where it ran for 7 award-winning series – a total of 53 episodes from 1980 until 1987. The show then transformed into KYTV, the exciting BBC 2 television revival, and now as a live stage show!
Favourite characters, including long suffering radio host Mike Channel, original foodie Anna Daptor, and the accident-prone Martin Brown, will all make an appearance as well as the cast’s original musical creations, responsible for such parody bands as The Hee Bee Gee Bees and Status Quid.
