Theatre Adhoc To Showcase New Writing At Cwmbran’s Congress Theatre

Theatre Adhoc return with a second evening of new writing after the success of their inaugural event in 2018. On September 17th, the Congress Theatre will host three one-act plays, all performed by members of Adhoc plus some additional friends of the company.

Following on from their success last year, Adhoc’s resident playwrights return with two further offerings. In Heaven’s Wait audiences are given a glimpse into the waiting room to the afterlife in a clever character drama from the pen of Lyndon House.

Kiss Me Quick is a comedy focussing on a couple celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary at the end of a windswept British pier written by Julia Swain.

The exciting development this year, however, was the inception of an annual competition to find a third playwright to join the homegrown talent in producing a one act play for the evening. Entries were received from around the world and the winner was Alun Howell with his thought-provoking play She Dries Her Feet by the River. Alun, a playwright from Caerphilly, fought off some high-quality competition from around the UK and the USA to gain the third slot in the evening’s run of plays.

Theatre Adhoc are committed to developing and promoting theatrical talent in Wales and further afield.
