“Oh, Mr Horne! How bona to vada your dolly old eek!”
This February, the magic of a radio comedy classic takes to the stage of Cardiff’s New Theatre for two nights only. From 1965 to 1968 there wasn’t a bigger radio programme in Britain than the ground-breaking Round the Horne. For half-an-hour every Sunday afternoon, audiences of up to 15 million people would gather around the wireless to listen to Kenneth Horne and his merry crew get up to all sorts of mischief.
With its infamous movie spoofs and hilarious regular characters such as Rambling Sid Rumpo, Charles and Fiona, J. Peasemold Gruntfuttock, and Julian and Sandy, Round the Horne was one of the biggest and best radio comedy shows of all time, and still endures with regular reruns on BBC Radio 4 Extra and CD releases, 50 years on.

Round The Horne is revived for the stage at Cardiff’s New Theatre from February 18-19 2020.
From the producers of the UK tours of The Goon Show and Hancock’s Half Hour, Round The Horne features scripts from the pens of comedy masters, Barry Took and Marty Feldman, compiled and directed by Tim Astley
So come and take a step back in time to the BBC’s Paris Studios and experience Round the Horne at Cardiff’s New Theatre from February 18-19. Ticket details via newtheatrecardiff.co.uk
