In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, Entertainment South Wales is all too aware of the frustration and sadness caused while we remain in lockdown and isolation.
We felt during this period we would like to turn over our YouTube channel to local performers from the professional and amateur mediums, not only to encourage them but also bring a smile to the faces of people who enjoy watching them perform.
All we ask is if you watch the video and enjoy it, share it on your social media channels and support the artist in any way you can by encouraging or even buying a ticket to their next show!
The latest Performance for Lockdown presents Adele Cordner performing her poem, Oh My Darlings, I Did My Best.
Adele’s poetry has been placed in various international poetry competitions including Poetry on the Lake, The Magic Oxygen Literary Prize and The Welsh Poetry Competition. Her poems have been published in Red Poets Magazine and various anthologies including Ways To Peace and Poems For Grenfell Tower. She has also won poetry prizes in both Abergavenny and Upper Chapel Eisteddfods.
Adele has recently gained an MA in Scriptwriting from Bath Spa University. She is a member of NaCOT and Stanza poetry workshops, and a performer and director for Newport Playgoers Society and Everyman Theatre Cardiff, and she sings with The Singing Club in Chepstow.
Adele says of Oh My Darlings, I Did My Best.
“I wanted to write a poem from the perspective of nature which I personified as Mother Earth, a caring presence who has created all things to live in perfect harmony.
To me, the coming of this terrible virus seems to be a consequence of the persistent destruction of the planet by humans and I feel that the time has come for us to acknowledge this.”
