As the pandemic continues, many people across the world have turned to online streaming for their dose of theatrical entertainment, particularly presented in the medium of audio drama.
Mumbles based company Lighthouse Theatre Ltd, is a leading light in this field with several productions such as already available on Soundcloud including their current serial adaptation of Aberystwyth Mon Amour, a standalone wartime drama Goat Street Runners and several episodes of Oliver Postgate’s classic children’s series Ivor The Engine.
Lighthouse Theatre’s presentation of It’s A Wonderful Life will be made available to listen to for a limited period on May 20, 2020.
It’s A Wonderful Life Available To Stream Online For A Limited Time
Also, on Wednesday May 20th, the audio of Lighthouse Theatre’s most recent touring production, It’s a Wonderful Life will be available to stream online for a limited period.
Lighthouse Theatre toured with Joe Landry’s staged radio play adaptation of Frank Kapra’s film script of It’s a Wonderful Life last autumn. In Joe Landry’s version, which stays faithful to Kapra’s original, the story is told by a company of radio actors in a live studio broadcast, complete with live foley sound effects.
It’s A Wonderful Life tells the story of George Bailey, a man who has given up his dreams to help others, and whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched, and how different life in his community of Bedford Falls would be if he had never been born.

It’s A Wonderful Life was recorded live at Pontardawe Arts Centre during autumn 2019 and access to the stream will be available on Wednesday May 20th until 11pm. Access to the booking page will available until Wednesday May 20, at midday, after which the event will be closed to the public.
