This weeks Throwback Thursday is a short time travel to June 4, 2017 when American singer/songwriter Anastacia brought her Ultimate Collection tour to Cardiff’s St David’s Hall with support from British singer/songwriter Chloe Reynolds.
The premise of the tour was that Anastacia (famed for her soulful hits I’m Outta Love and Left Outside Alone) invited her fans to choose songs for her to perform at each venue from her back catalogue rather than just her greatest hits, thus making each show unique.
Anastacia told Andy Howells in an interview at the time::
“I chat to my fans. We are fully engaged, I have fans who come over and over to each show and they remind me that never have they come to a show where I do the same thing twice.”
The Cardiff show coincided with the One Love benefit concert in Manchester of which Anastacia referred to. during the show and I summarised in my review:
“The evenings most powerful moment was Anastacia’s performance of You Are Not Alone as she left the stage and walked among the audience. She also delivered an inspirational message while acknowledging the simultaneous One Love charity concert taking place in Manchester, “When you’re singing songs and you have music in your heart, it just brings you to a better place,” she said, “this is where you should celebrate and this is the kind of place that deserves a celebration.”
Supporting Anastacia was British singer/songwriter Chloe Reynolds who was promoting her album Broken Beautiful. Chloe told Andy Howells at the time:
“Supporting Anastacia is a dream come true. As a teenager, I grew up listening to her Soulful pop rock and it was great to have discovered a powerful vocalist I could sing along to.”
Anastacia’s visit to South Wales was a special and memorable one. Lets hope she (and Chloe Reynolds) will return in the future..
