My Music DNA: Norwegian Alt-Pop Artist – Skaar

Every week, Entertainment South Wales regular feature – My Music DNA shines a light on musicians, singers and people connected with the music industry and discovers the songs that have inspired them on their musical journey.

This mid-week Music DNA extra features Norway’s breaking alt-pop artist, 22-year-old Skaar, whose first five singles have all been A-listed on Norwegian radio, including her debut track ‘Higher Ground’ which has now exceeded 11 million streams at Spotify. She follows the releases up with her debut EP ‘The Other Side Of Waiting’, on September 4, which opens with her brand new single ‘Turn of the Tide’.

Skaar grew up surrounded by the stunning scenery of the island of Stord. A career in music didn’t seem realistic early on, but everything came together piece-by-piece. Two years after releasing her debut single, Skaar is primed for a glowing future. “This EP is bang of an introductory,” she states. “It represents me as a person and an artist. It’s impossible to separate those two things.”

Here Skaar reveals the music that has inspired her to Andy Howells.
