What was the first song that made an impact on you?

Fields of Gold, which is originally by Sting but Eva Cassidy’s version is absolutely beautiful. I remember the first time I heard this song; it was in school during one of my singing lessons. I love Eva Cassidy’s music, and I find I can relate to her as an artist, interpreting songs and making them my own! I would have given anything to be able to see her play live.

What was the first single /download you bought?

I was a HUGE Kelly Clarkson fan (very much still am) and as much as I love all of her songs, so I’m pretty sure it would have been my ultimate anthem Beautiful Disaster. Brings back fond memories of me singing my little heart out on my old karaoke machine, fully convinced I was ready to be a pop star!

What was the first album you owned?

Well, my mum used to listen to a lot of Alanis Morisette, and I remember as I started to get a bit older I was really interested in her music, so I went out and bought my own copy of Jagged Little Pill. I still listen to it on repeat now! I think she’s an amazing songwriter.

What’s your constant go to track?

SO many to choose from but if I really had to choose one, I could listen to over and over again. I would have to say Jolene by Dolly Parton. Who doesn’t love Dolly??

What’s your constant go to album?

Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago. Justin Vernon is the most incredible songwriter. So many amazing songs, but Skinny Love is one of my favourites from that album, especially because it’s the first song me and my dad recorded together! He has worked in the music industry since before I was born and he plays guitar, so one day we had a jam and decided to upload something to youtube! Feels like ‘Forever Ago’ now.. see what I did there?

Who’s your latest music discovery?

YEBBA. Her vocal agility is incredible, the songs she writes are so raw and full of emotion, and she is incredibly underrated. If you are going to do anything with your day today.. listen to YEBBA’s music. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

What’s your own track that best defines you as an artist?

I haven’t released any original music yet! However, I have been songwriting on and off for years. It might sound cliche, but I keep a notebook close by and if something inspires me, I write it down!

My phone is full of random voice notes of me singing different lyrics and melodies. Sometimes I’m in the middle of a shop and suddenly get this wave of inspiration for a song and I have to record it on my voice notes there and then. I tend to get some funny looks but when those creative juices are flowing, you have to go with it!

I would absolutely LOVE to share some original songs with you soon, and I can’t wait until I’m finally ready to release my own music! One day!
