“Eclectic Mix of Family Entertainment” For Cardiff Castle’s Live Under The Stars Event

Following on from the recent announcement that Sophie Evans and Mike Doyle will lead an all-star cast in a new production of Sleeping Beauty (25 March – 11 April) set within the iconic walls of Cardiff Castle, event organisers have announced further shows to be held as part of the first Live Under the Stars season at Cardiff Castle during Easter 2021.

West End Stars To Headline First Concert Since Pandemic

The opening concert of the season, and the first concert to be held in Wales since the pandemic, will be Bring Them Home – a major celebration of Wales in the West End and on Broadway.  Starring Caroline Sheen (Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), David Thaxton (Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera) and Sophie Evans (Wizard of Oz, Wicked), with more to be announced.  The show will be a fitting celebration of musical theatre and the Welsh stars that have graced stages here and around the world. Bring Them Home will be staged on 22 March.

Only Men Aloud Join Live Under The Stars Line-Up

Wales’ most celebrated choir Only Men Aloud will perform a concert on the 23 March.

For fans of the Jersey Boys, the Four Seasons show Walk Like A Man will be held on Saturday 27 March, whilst Abba fans are in for a real treat on Sunday 28 March with MY MY – Abba Live at the Castle.

Producers have offered two local acts the opportunity to showcase their talents during the Live Under the Stars season. Blue Evolution, a 5-piece electric blues band are one of Wales’s best kept secrets who, prior to Covid, recently returned from America where they recorded their latest album. 

In addition, Aleighcia Scott is a Cardiff born Welsh Jamaican reggae artist. Having recently been nominated for a Caribbean Afro Music Award and with performances at Glastonbury, BBC Introducing stages and international stages under her belt, Aleighcia is set to release her debut album.

Blue Evolution will play the castle 31 March. whilst Aleighcia Scott will perform on 7 April.

Enthusiasts of Motown, and in particular the Temptations, can look forward to a world premiere of a new production when Just My Imagination takes to the stage on Friday 2 April.

Opera at Cardiff Castle

The tone changes on Easter Monday, 5 April when singers from the Wales International Academy of Voice bring opera to the Castle where audiences can enjoy the opera anthems that we all know and love.

Finally, from a recent West End run and a record-breaking UK tour, the fantastic Whitney Queen of the Night show rolls into the castle for one night only on Friday 9 April.
