Watch Online Performance of O Holy Night From WNO Community Chorus & Renewal Choir

Welsh National Opera’s Community Chorus and Renewal Choir have come together for a unique performance of O Holy Night.

This season, Welsh National Opera would have presented the world premiere of its new opera Migrations by Will Todd – these performances have since been rescheduled for Autumn 2021.

The Bristol-based Renewal Choir, who would have performed in Migrations, have come together with WNO Community Chorus to create Co-Video, a project which combines singers of gospel and opera, for a special online performance this Christmas.

Kim and Vernon Samuels from Renewal Choir, along with Kate Woolveridge from WNO Community Chorus, have been leading both choirs in remote rehearsals via zoom.

Both opera and gospel singers have been learning different musical skills from the other in preparation for a performance of O Holy Night, which can be viewed online here.

Find out more about how this project came together in WNO’s behind the scenes video, featuring interviews with project producer Jennifer Hill, as well as Music Directors Kim and Vernon Samuels, and Kate Woolveridge.
