Foxxglove recently discussed her music inspirations with Andy Howells.
What was the first song that made an impact on you?
Anything But Ordinary by Avril Lavigne, in fact, anything on her first album Let Go, my eldest sister had the album and me and my other sister kept it when she moved out. I must have only been about 6/7 but I’ve been obsessed with Avril Lavigne ever since. The album and this song, in particular, had a big impact on me, she was one of the first artists that made me want to be a singer.
What was the first single or download you bought?
I think it was What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, I bought all of their physical singles and albums, huuuuge fan!
What was the first album you owned?
Avril Lavigne – The Best Damn Thing, this album got me through the last couple years of primary school (I didn’t have a great time in school), screaming it in the car on the way and back!
I also got to go to The Best Damn Thing tour in Cardiff in 2008 with my parents and sister, me and my sister got to go to the front row, I was only 10 and it was my first concert. Truly was the best damn thing!
What’s your constant go-to track?
I Hate Everybody by Halsey, it’s such a fun song to sing and I love her!
What’s your constant go-to album?
It changes, at the moment it’s Plastic Hearts by Miley Cyrus. Another artist that inspired me growing up, this album is such a good listen and her voice just always blows me away, she is and always has been incredible to me.
Who’s your latest music discovery?
Yours Truly, their latest album is so so good! And Ashnikko, who has deservedly blown up in the last year she is insane, makes you feel like you can do anything when you listen to her!
What’s your own track that best defines you as an artist?
Bonnie & Clyde, it’s not released yet but I’ve played it live! I think it represents me lyrically and musically, I feel it shows how I’ve developed as an artist and person. It’s also an absolute banger if I say so myself haha!
