Following Welsh Government announcements and guidance today, Wales Millennium Centre have regretfully announced that all scheduled shows from 26 December 2021 to 15 January 2022 have been cancelled.
Performances of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on 23 and 24 December are also cancelled due to Covid-related absences in the cast and crew.
The venue situated in Cardiff will fully close on 26 December.
A statement on the Wales Millennium Centre website says:
“The Welsh Government have announced that Wales is moving to Alert Level 2 at 6am on 26 December 2021.
This will require 2m social distancing and an upper limit of 30 for indoor events. These new restrictions have made it impossible for us to open the theatre in a way that provides a good audience experience and is economically viable.
In response, and to protect our audiences, staff and production cast and crew, we regret that all performances of scheduled shows have been cancelled from 26 December until at least 15 January 2022. Our building will fully close from 26 December.
Performances of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on 23 and 24 December have also been cancelled due to Covid-enforced absences in the cast and crew.
If you have booked tickets to see a show during this period, the original booker will be automatically refunded.”
