The theatrical adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling books, Tiddler and other Terrific Tales will play Cardiff’s New Theatre during Summer 2022.
The four tales will be brought to life with music, poetry and many characters from the established titles: Tiddler, Monkey Puzzle, The Smartest Giant in Town and A Squash and a Squeeze. The show aims to be able to bring the scenes of the books to life in a giggle-guaranteed performance!
Filled with music, puppetry and humour, audiences can through the books helping monkey find his mummy, checking out George the Giant’s new clothes, seeing how many animals the old lady can get in her house and follow Tiddler’s tales and imagination across the ocean.

Tiddler and other terrific tales will weave the four stories together by Donaldson and Scheffler, the pair behind some of the most loved children’s books like the Gruffalo. Their books have in total sold over 75 million copies.
Mark Kane is directing the current run with music and lyrics by Benji Bower, the musical direction is by Brian Hargreaves. Katie Sykes is behind designs while lighting design was by El Higgins. The cast features the likes of Joanna Brown, T J Holmes and Delvene Pitt.
- The production is most suitable for ages 3+ but all are welcome. The show will play Cardiff’s New Theatre from July 25 – 27, 2022.
